Sometimes I fear that the pain in our hearts will not allow us to witness the light of day. We need more and more guns; more and more money; more and more status and prestige. “…lest problems of money, property and prestige divert us from our primary spiritual aim.” (Al-Anon 12 Traditions). Everything I accumulate is in an effort to quiet my own pain – as I run from me, I will never be fast enough. Namaste.

I was at a meeting recently with one of the groups for marriage equality and they described how it came to pass for two separate marches recently instead of unified one. And it occurred to me that we see our own faults clearly. If we want the world to see we are ready for marriage then the lessons of forgiveness and tolerance must first be learned within.

I went to (did?) two meetings and a panel yesterday. At the first meeting a young woman shared that she was there for a psychology class, but had heard so much that sounded like her own life, she began to cry as she shared. She said, “I will come back next week – and it won’t be for a class.” I don’t know how Higher Power delivers each of us to where we are supposed to be, but our journeys seem to converge at a place of awakening where we can choose to rejoice in this new day..or we can choose to go back to sleep.
