Kindness of The Farmer :

Once, a king’s army was going back after a battle. Their food supplies got finished. The king asked his soldiers to go to a nearby village and get the grains. Some soldiers and their commander entered the village and met a farmer. The commander asked him, “Dear farmer, can you lead us to this village’s largest field?”

He took them to a large field. The commander ordered his soldiers, “Cut and collect all the grains.” At this, the farmer got scared, He said, “Sir, come and I’ll show you another field.”

The soldiers went with him to a small field. They collected the grains from that field. The commander asked the farmer why he led them to this field. The farmer replied, “That field belongs to someone else. How could I let you destroy it? This is my field and here I can allow you to do, what I wish.”

The king learnt of the farmer’s kind concern for others and paid him handsomely for his grains.

Why Kindness is Valued So Highly Among Us – Step 3

SPEAKING IN KIND KINDLING WAYS –

“Compassion lends
kindness to all our ef-
forts in service to others.
With compassion as the foun-
dation of our actions, we learn
to support members through
any  difficulties  they may
experience. (It Works,
How & Why, p. 109)

LIVING IN HARMONY –

“Courtesy, kindness,
justice, and love are the
keynotes by which we may
come into harmony with practi-
cally anybody. When in doubt
we can always pause, say-
ing,  ‘Not my will,  but
Thine, be done.’ ” (12
& 12, p. 93)

“Ask yourself:
Have you been kind
today? Make kindness
your daily modus oper-
andi and change
your world.”

– Annie Lennox (1954 – ) Scottish musician

It’s much less tiring to respond with kindness than anything else. When the ideal of kindness directs my actions, it’s much easier to fee in tune with myself without shame.

I try my best to respond to others with kindness through my attitude and demeanor. Lately I have been patient and kind with my responses.

Well I am more courteous, and slower to becoming upset at people than in the past. Sometimes I think about racist terms, or have more of a sensitivity towards bad words being quoted, but I refrain more than I used to. I’m always kind though, and caring, although some people ask how I can be that way in my impoverished situations in life, but it’s just natural for me to be very caring where I can, especially when I see great injustices.

Kindness starts with greeting the day and being kind to myself. That radiates outward, what I put in, goes out. And by being kind to myself that same kindness spreads throughout my world. Life is filled with challenges, and no one can fully experience what someone else is going through When each of us chooses to spread kindness, it lightens the challenges of life, of the day to day challenges each of us face. Today, when I meet someone new, or greet a friend, I will do so with kindness.

One way is to listen to the other person, show them you care about what they’re saying giving them some time to speak and listen intently to what they’re saying. Sometimes it’s as easy as giving someone an ear and not trying to tell them what to do but rather simply listening to what they’re saying…

I try to be kind continuously and smile. I tip well, donate to charitable organizations, say thank you and please, try to help out if someone is trying to lift something, help clean up after meetings/parties. I give to beggars but that is a double-edged sword as that can be contributing to their addiction. I was on my way to a Christmas party at a nice restaurant. This elderly woman asked for money and I walked by. As I looked another homeless person dropped money in her cup. There are times when I feel God is speaking to me and it is like hearing a loud screech calling across a silent valley. It is so poignant and obvious it penetrates my soul so profoundly. This lesson was about never forgetting to be kind and compassionate.

I am sometimes verbally abusive; it is never my intention to hurt or cause harm to another and the words I use can sting or burn. I look for the child in myself and in others and communicate I know that I love you and I know that you love me. I may not be perfect in saying that and that is the truth of my Higher Power. Sometimes my pain speaks more loudly; underneath all pain is that fact that you could not have hurt me if I did not love you at some time.

The word “kindling” looked odd to me. It can mean the stirring up of emotion and also has a medical meaning relating to sedatives which surprised me.
