The Best of the Grapevine highlights willingness. We stop fighting old battles with simple willpower. Acceptance of new life facts brings true freedom. This shift requires us to discard false pride. Instead, we embrace a humble, interdependent path. We find liberty in letting go of the struggle.

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. mentions a staircase. We take the first step without seeing the end. Similarly, Mahatma Gandhi taught that faith is a functional force (Gandhi, 1948). Wellbriety wisdom echoes this deep spiritual connection. “The Red Road is a journey of the heart” (Wellbriety, 2002). Surrender opens the door to a meaningful life.

Happy Kwanzaa everyone. In helping others the principal of distraction helps to move focus from self to selfless. When one focuses solely on their problems, they fester and grow. Helping others puts our mind and energy on the external, being of service and seeing the results and benefits of giving. This also gives us perspective that perhaps our own problems can be solved. Additionally, one of our traditions states that we can only keep what we have by giving it away.

Thank you for sharing recovery with me. Grateful.

Walking by faith on a daily basis, shifting my focus from visible problems to unseen promises… accessing God’s strength beyond my own, allows me to face challenges with Divine support and guidance even when the path is not clear…

Habari gani. Everything I am doing now is aligned with the principles of Kwanzaa. Being at the Art House and participating whole
heartedly is an extension of the principles of Kwanzaa. Aligning with my highest self requires me to exercise these principles in everything that do. Whether it is unity through service or creativity. Self determination through discipline and demonstration. Collective work through group activities. Responsibility through self accountability. Cooperative economics through collective shopping. Being in and on purpose. Creativity through care and consideration. Or actively standing in and on faith. Kwanzaa is most definitely engrained and is apart of my daily life

Today is the start of kwanzaa – what a beautiful thing, and I went to the college where the founder taught. Cultural strength is important with a mind-set of what I want is becoming. Responsibility has been lingering over my head, while looking back at the substances that made me feel less responsible, and disciplined. Discipline, and responsibilities definitely override wanting to go off the track I want to be on. Writing on here, and participating in activities at the Art House has been collective work I’m partaking on with a lot of purpose. Right now I think I’m more determined than ever to accomplish all of what I want/plan to accomplish. Creativity in fully recognizing my imagery is of a lot of importance right now, as sometimes I’ve looked distorted to be quite honest. Yes, I see that, that is a different obstacle that I’m under right now, that I want to notify the general public of too, plus investigate. Creativity also in art forms has been so therapeutic in my life right now. Anything anyone has to say about them should always be seen as of importance, and not put down.

This year is drawing to a close. Always a time of reflection, recollection, and forgiveness. I love the quotation by Antoine de Saint-Exupery. This helps me to see that although I fear intimacy, I am also interested in finding spirits who share a caring and love for all living creatures (the planet itself is alive – the very rocks and mountains still remember the heat and fire of inner earth). So, two intentions so far – finding those who want to love and nourish the planet and all those on it; and to work on my fear of intimacy. Namaste.

I became overtired and lost it on my sister (sent a nasty email). I forgot HALT. Then I apologized and was able to let myself be human for making a mistake. I think that’s okay.
