Analysis: The Alchemical Power of Intent

The Zonr post highlights the internal engine of our actions. The Big Book invites us to pause before starting. We ask a Higher Power to guide our thoughts. This prayer seeks freedom from self-pity and dishonest goals (Alcoholics Anonymous, 2001). Pure intent transforms the quality of our recovery journey.

Removing selfish desires paves the way for deep serenity. The Basic Text claims this peace surpasses all imagination (Narcotics Anonymous, 1988). Marcus Aurelius echoed this timeless truth in his Meditations. He believed that “the worth of a man is the worth of his ambitions” (Aurelius, 2002). Our inner “why” defines the value of our outer “what.”

Wellbriety teachings emphasize the heart’s direction over mere results. “The Great Spirit looks into the heart to see our true intent” (White Bison, 2002, p. 74). This focus prevents the ego from taking over. We must examine our souls regularly. Consequently, we align our will with a divine purpose. This alignment creates a lasting and meaningful life.

POR QUÉ LOS MOTIVOS IMPORTAN AL MENOS TANTO COMO LOS RESULTADOS – PASO 10

EMPIEZA PREGUNTANDO –

I have been able to push aside my selfish motives by consistently looking for opportunities to help others. I recently heard a quote that resonated with me greatly. Basically, it said that you should view doing things for others as your duty, rather than expecting a reward out of it. This has really solidified my perspective on being selfless, that it is our duty as human beings here on this planet to make this experience good for others.

By taking in my lessons and experiences, as opposed to complaining about them to others. This way I take responsibility for what must be done and decisions that have to be made, as opposed to covertly seeking answers, guidance, and comfort from others.

It is amazing to me how beautifully I can dress up a really awful idea. I can actually fail to see my own dishonesty. My Higher Power gave me a pretty good mirror, though. My Higher Power gave me friends in the Program. When I really want the truth, it really helps me to ask an FIP (Friend in the Program).
