FAITH DRAWN FROM THE LIGHT OF ANOTHER –  “We admit that our lives have been unmanageable, but sometimes we have a problem admitting our need for help.  Our own self-will leads to many problems in our recovery.” “Just for today I will have faith in someone in NA who believes in me … .” (The Basic Text. p. 93) on the Sun

Analysis: The Awakening of the Soul

The sun rises for those who remain awake. Thoreau reminds us that every day offers a new dawn. We must lift our faces toward the Great Mystery. However, darkness often clouds our vision. As Bill Sees It encourages deep belief during dim times. We must trust the morning star even in shadows.

Self-will often blocks the path to true healing. Many people struggle to admit their need for support. The Basic Text suggests borrowing faith from a friend. Rumi observed that “the wound is the place where the Light enters you” (Rumi, 1995, p. 142). Similarly, the Great Spirit guides us through others. The Red Road to Wellbriety teaches that “healing comes from the inside out” (White Bison, 2002, p. 44). This inner light requires daily attention and care. Recovery leads to a life beyond our wildest dreams.

I am surrounded by friends and we lift each other up. We talk when things are tough we listen and hear each others wins, losses, fears and we triumph and stand courageous against it all. With friends, we are all invincible.

Thank you for sharing recovery with me. Grateful.

The Holy Spirit lights the path just like the sun by providing Divine illumination, guidance and warmth removing the darkness of confusion…
Psalms 119:105 says, God’s word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto thy path…

I find it hard to ask people for help. Sometimes you have to humble yourself and just do it. this is something I need to work on

The light for me is often that which I initially choose to ignore, or the darkness of my own anxiety and fears.

I was standing in line at a doughnut shop and an Old E. toting burly guy started calling someone he did not like a racial epithet. Being the only person in the shop who vaguely fit this horrible racial reference I began to feel my blood begin to boil. Yet still there was a part of me that saw the 16oz in the paper bag and identified. Seeing humanity, even at its worst, and still realizing there is some kinship there, is a blessing I hope to hold and build onto.

Yesterday was such a day of revelation! It began with the quotation about results, moved to a planning meeting that invited Higher Power into the room, and ended with a meeting about how Higher Power answers our prayers. I know I often stumble in the dark even with the bright light of day shining on me. I pray for my Higher Power’s will; I pray I learn to feel the sun warm upon me; I pray thy will, not mine, be done. I am loved. I am safe. I surrender.
