English Analysis

The quotes explore how chaos, autonomy, and steadfastness shape growth. The Tradition Four quote, “Being ‘Children of Chaos, We have Defiantly Played with Every Brand of Fire …,” embraces risk. It echoes Nietzsche’s call to “become who you are” in Thus Spoke Zarathustra. He believed struggle births strength. When groups play with chaos, they learn limits.

The It Works, How & Why passage celebrates group autonomy. It reminds us of John Stuart Mill’s defense of liberty in On Liberty. Mill argued for diverse experiments in living. He claimed freedom lets people flourish. Here, group freedom mirrors that vision. Each group’s unique character emerges only when left free. Autonomy does not fracture unity; it strengthens it.

The 12 & 12 quote repeats the “Children of chaos” idea. It adds the grace of God. Carl Jung saw chaos as part of the psyche’s alchemical process. In Psychology and Alchemy, Jung argued trial and error refines the soul. These groups endure trial by fire. They emerge wiser because they learn through errors.

Shakespeare’s line calls for resilience. “Do not for one repulse forego the purpose.” The group must keep its vision. Trial and error tests the group’s integrity. Nietzsche, Mill, and Jung all agree: struggle shapes the self. Diversity within unity allows the whole to grow resilient.

Surviving chaos can lead to greater resiliancy and wisdom; allowing groups to thrive. As they hold fast to purpose, adapt, and carry a message uniquely theirs.

SFZ Quotes Translated into Spanish

Trad. 4

Impulsiveness. Acting quickly on any opportunity has served me, but it just as quickly cuts off alternate routes. There’s a balance that I don’t know, and will be looking for throughout my life.

In life, I win some, I lose some. If I give up, I lose for sure. So why not just go for it, try and see where I come out. Perseverance always rewards with a result. Perseverance pays. Giving up never pays. Keep moving forward, put the effort and finish. The win will always be for me.

Thank you for sharing in my recovery, grateful.

Lately, I’ve been pushing myself to break the isolation I trap myself in and actively reach out to others. Surprisingly, it is working. And I’ve also prayed to be more connected as well.

I love the meditation for today. One of the ways I am becoming more willing to face my shortcomings is to be still with them. Asking for patience and willingness from my higher power.

I have been getting a lot of positive feedback lately. I joined a writers’ group recently and people are very complimentary — this makes me very very uneasy. Why are they being nice? What are they up to? I have to be willing to hear the good stuff as well as the other areas for growth. When I fail to recognize my Higher Power’s work through me, I am lying to myself in the exact same way I lie to myself about negative traits(opportunities to grow). Stay blessed and beautiful!

There is certainly nothing wrong with a group having its individual niceties so long as its primary purpose does not waiver from carrying the message to the still suffering alcoholics. Novel formats and the like can be a welcome relief from the same old same old. However, if in trying to set itself apart as unique if its primary purpose is not to carry the message then it would be far better for the group to model other groups then to violate a tradition.

I look for these each time I read the Stress Free Zones and I do the step work. Outside of that I don’t spend too much time on it because probably my biggest character defect is beating myself up for my character defects. I only look at them in setting where we are discussing possible solutions. Otherwise it starts a spiral of negative self-talk which serves no purpose. Just this question has made me uneasy and now I have to do some gratitudes to feel better before I start my day.
