ANALYSIS

Today’s SFZ challenges us to reject indifference. Elie Wiesel, a Holocaust survivor, warned in Night that indifference kills. He believed silence helps the oppressor, not the oppressed. That insight echoes in the call to “pay attention.” Inaction in the face of injustice fuels ongoing harm.

Next, The Basic Text reminds us that freedom requires constant effort. Friedrich Nietzsche claimed, “He who has a why can bear any how.” When people forget why they began, they risk losing everything. Gratitude helps us stay grounded and avoid self-destruction.

The third quote shifts focus to action. The Big Book states that our principles must show in daily life. Philosopher John Dewey believed values only matter when practiced. If our walk doesn’t match our talk, the message fails. We must live change—not just speak it.

Together, these ideas build a warning and a guide. Pay attention. Stay grateful. Live your values boldly. Otherwise, complacency, ego, or silence may undo the progress we have achieved.

CITAS DE SFZ Y FUENTES

Estrofa 1:

“Si no estás indignado. Entonces no estás prestando atención.” – Paso 5
LA COMPLACENCIA PUEDE DETENER
NUESTRO CAMINO ESPIRITUAL
EN SECO –

Estrofa 2:

“Cuando olvidamos
el esfuerzo y el
trabajo que nos tomó
alcanzar un período de libertad
en nuestras vidas, una falta de gra-
titud se instala, y la auto-
destrucción comienza
de nuevo.”
(El Texto Básico, p. 81)

Estrofa 3:

CAMINA EL CAMINO PARA
QUE TODOS LO VEAN –

“Ninguno de nosotros
hace de este trabajo
su única vocación,
ni creemos que su eficacia
aumentaría si lo hiciéramos.” “Una demostración
mucho más importante de
nuestros principios se encuentra
en nuestros respectivos
hogares, ocupaciones
y asuntos.”

protest, pass out flyers, and contribute to a lot of Non-Profits trying to better our societies to stand against injustices. Gender/Culture also gives me opportunities to stand against what’s not right in how people target or limit access especially to marginalized gendered people.
Sometimes when everything is supposedly going stable and/or good for some people they may tend to forget or stop caring about the greater picture. They all may stop assisting people or standing against injustices also. My values are sometimes put on the line too due to the pressures that I come across at times with people too, but in codependence anonymous I’m learning not let others pressure me to go against some of my values.

One way I can start is to take action in my own community. I used to have spiritual theories, but now I’m being awakened to spiritual reality which makes it possible for me to allow God to drive the car in the face of Injustice

As a part of the living ecosystem on earth, apathy is perhaps the most dangerous emotion. To not care about others is the path to the destruction of our society. It is critical that we care and have empathy for each other. With that comes understanding that no one is responsible for all, and when all of us are responsible for some, we are all covered.

Thank you for sharing recovery with me. Grateful.

I reach out to those within my orbit and try to make us more aware of injustice and the harm we inadvertently cause from time to time when we let injustice slide by.
