“Remember that you don’t choose love; love chooses you. All you really can do is accept it for all its mystery when it comes to your life. Feel the way it fills you to overflowing then reach out and give it away.”

 Analysis

Learning to speak from the heart requires humility and willingness. Today’s Zonr post highlights this path. It presents love as a transforming force that chooses us. This view aligns with Kent Nerburn’s reminder that love arrives with mystery and abundance. His insight supports Step Eight’s call for honest connection.

Furthermore, It Works: How & Why stresses empathy as spiritual currency. It notes that we strengthen unity through open sharing (Narcotics Anonymous, 1993). The Zonr post echoes this by urging fearless compassion. This approach reduces barriers created by false pride. Bill W. adds clarity in As Bill Sees It. He explains that spiritual experience offers results even when its meaning remains unclear (Wilson, 1967). His admission encourages acceptance rather than analysis paralysis.

Additionally, Wellbriety teachings affirm that healing grows in circles of truth. They emphasize that “the heart shows the path when the mind becomes noisy” (Coyhis, 2010). This teaching deepens the post’s theme. It affirms that love and empathy originate from a Higher Power and move outward through service.

Together, these voices guide us toward sincere speech. They remind us that spiritual growth unfolds through vulnerability, reflection, and connection. They also show that we thrive when we allow love to guide amends and relationships.

My spiritual growth has been slow but I see for me taking contrary action has become almost second nature for me and that’s how I also know I’m growing.

I think maybe we do choose love. When I think that love is choosing me, maybe I’m just being open to the experience of love – of spiritual growth. Whenever I can choose gratitude, whenever I can choose forgiveness, whenever I can look beyond my own narrow concerns and choose peace and light for this planet – maybe that is when I choose love. Maybe in expressing gratitude for my life I find that love is also choosing me.
