Analysis: The Harmony of Word and Action

Spiritual growth requires more than mere words. We must align our daily actions with our inner values. The Big Book demands a lived experience rather than a theory. This process begins with a morning plea for patience and love. Consequently, we seek strength from a Higher Power to change.

It Works, How & Why suggests we surrender our intolerance. We trust the Great Mystery to guide our timing. Mahatma Gandhi famously stated that his life was his message (Gandhi, 1958). He believed our behavior proves our true beliefs. Similarly, the Wellbriety movement emphasizes the “Red Road” of balance. “We must live the teachings every day” (White Bison, 2002, p. 23).

Saint Jerome warned against words that contradict our deeds. Hypocrisy weakens the spirit and hurts those around us. True healing occurs when we mirror our prayers in public. This alignment creates a life of authentic peace. We choose kindness over the need to be right. Faith grows when we act with a humble heart.

I do not preach to people… Wars have been going on for centuries with regard to my higher Powers name… I had some friends who had this higher power, and there was something about them, something about The Way They Carried themselves and the way they reacted to life in general that I wanted. There was Zero prejudice and they had this love for everybody of all religions ,Races and different cultures… so I will continue to walk the walk and to love everybody and if they see something in me that they might want I’ll tell them how I received it!

To be the person I am growing into means to take action and do the work. If it needs to be done, do it. Do it now, finish it fully. This motto was on my desk at work for years, and will be again. It states an obvious goal, yet it is one that, in my past has delayed me from doing what needs to be done.

Thank you for sharing recovery with me. Grateful.

Convening yourself to change to do better. Is a hard thing to do. You have to concentrate. It has to be your only foal for a momment.

Upon reflection I think that I always strive to practice what I preach. A large part of my life has always been spent on self actualization or self-improvement and inspiring others, so lately I have been really keen about noticing those instances when I want to throw in the towel because things become uncomfortable or too difficult in the moment. So, I am sitting in my discomfort, but at the same time learning and becoming better…(5)

So, here is the hard balance for me: Being my authentic self while learning and practicing new ways to respond with love. I am learning to take a deep breath, not say everything I think, and step forward with love. I can recognize my thoughts and my feelings and still move beyond that fear to a place of love. And sometimes that means simply walking away (“Detachment is neither kind nor unkind…”) Make it a beautiful day!

well I just finished my continuing education requirements in order to maintain substance abuse certification for the next few years. So in a way I would not be able to “practic e what I preach” in this arena with as much internalized security as I would like.( 12 mins)

Like a smile tends to put people at ease. Its the practicing what you preach part that gets hard to do.
