Analysis: The Anchor of Gratitude

Gratitude protects our fragile freedom. The Basic Text warns against forgetting past struggles. Ingratitude invites self-destruction back into our lives. A Higher Power restores our wandering steps. We must remember this vital truth daily.

Spiritual principles guide our everyday affairs. The Big Book reminds us to live these truths at home. True work happens in ordinary spaces. Edward M. Kennedy spoke about enduring hope. Work begins anew when courage rises. Dreams live on through steady action.

Thich Nhat Hanh emphasized this mindful living (Hanh, 1991). He taught that every moment holds profound grace. Wellbriety teachings echo this timeless wisdom. “Gratitude opens the door to the Creator’s gifts” (White Bison, 2002, p. 134). Thankfulness transforms our heavy burdens into light. Joy follows those who practice daily appreciation.

Hope and Gratitude are choices and ever present. By ever present, I can choose to be in that state of hope and gratitude always and any time. When I choose Gratitude and Hope my life, at that moment changes for the better. I am able to slow down into the present moment and be in a state of grace.

Thank you for sharing recovery with me. Grateful.

For me it’s very important to focus on the positive things. I focus on what I have instead of what I don’t have. That gives me gratitude. I like to keep it simple and I have hope on a daily basis. As Long as hope doesn’t turn into dope, then I can definitely cope…c’mon!

I listened to friend talk about his addiction, childhood, and going into a recovery home. Also, the person I’m buying my house from was feeling anxiety. I sent a message about myself and how much I will care for the home. I’m using money from my inheritance so I shared a very personal story about my family so she would feel better letting go. I didn’t need this as offer was already accepted.
