Analysis: The Anchor of Faith

Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions reveals profound spiritual vision. Catching glimpses of a Higher Power transforms human perspective. Truth, justice, and love conquer surrounding chaos. Therefore, we remain peaceful amidst worldly storms.

William Hazlitt taught that absolute faith secures victory. It Works: How and Why expands this hopeful vision. Our limited minds cannot imagine future blessings. Trusting a Higher Power unlocks limitless possibilities ahead. Wellbriety teachings support this spiritual journey. “Faith brings courage to face tomorrow” (White Bison, 2002, p. 145). Dedicated seekers embrace this divine grace. We finally conquer inner turbulence.

It’s easier to be calm when you believe there’s an order, reason, or purpose to events. Believing there’s ‘something’ watching out for you helps in this regard, too. But higher powers can look many different ways. This is not necessarily the purpose of having a HP.

Trusting in a higher power in hard times for me is tantamount to trusting that the hard times are for my own benefit. That I can make the most of what happens to me. That smooth seas never made for a skilled sailor.

Thanks for this. I’m working on my step 6 now and have been dragging my feet. Maybe because I struggle to give control over to something I don’t understand? Seems pretty likely. Definitely something for me to consider moving forward through this step.

Be still and know that I am God. One of my favorite in the moment reminders to do exactly that. Be still, breathe and remember divinity. Faith gives me the strength in knowing that everything is as it should be and that nothing stays the same. When times are hard, they will not last, and conversely, to prepare during the good times because they will likely. change. Just as today’s climate in the US is a nightmare for many of us, I have faith that it will change.

Likewise, what I know is that my faith says I am not responsible to change the world. I simply change the world within me. By making progress in who I want to become, I have faith that so too will the world around me.

Thank you for sharing recovery with me. Grateful.

O Great Spirit, Allah, Guan – Yin, Buddha, Krishna, Ezili, Jah, God, and other Gods and Goddesses assist me with so much protection when things have gone bad to allow calmness plus relaxation in my life. So many people are messin’ up their lives with bad substances, and just bad behaviors where the mind/brain is of no value. Bein’ very studious the mind is of course very important for moi(me) to preserve, and value, because also they’re a part of me. It’s like my pulse, or someone’s pulse, do we want a calm steady pulse, or frantic stressed out pulse. To keep erethang aligned of course calm, balance, and stillness are very essential.

For me trusting in God is the only way. When I take inventory I’m now ready to let God remove my defects and humbly asking him to remove them puts me on the path to spiritual growth and takes me out of isolation and loneliness.

I have been learning that there is a definite difference between isolation and serenity. I took a few months off believing I had achieved serenity; I was still bored and discontent, though. Ubuntu: I cannot be human alone. Isolation freezes out serenity and for a while fooled me into thinking I was “cured.” I need to stay in closer proximity to my Higher Power and learn to hear my Higher Power’s voice.

p.s. A high five to the Martin Luther King memorial dedication going on the Washington today, sunday. It might seem off topic from the program but not really – if ever anyone was “of service” – hello – Martin Luther King..words can’t even say.
