Analysis: The Stone of Hope

The 12 & 12 exposes a bitter human struggle. Toxic personalities tear communities apart constantly. Greed and prestige fracture society. Furthermore, despair darkens our collective path. People suffer within overwhelming isolation.

Martin Luther King Jr. envisioned a brilliant transformation. Faith hews a solid stone from sheer despair. A Course in Miracles reveals a sacred brotherhood. Divine grace heals every fractured heart. Meanwhile, a Higher Power restores inner peace. Wellbriety teachings anchor our spiritual growth. “Harmony replaces discord when we seek truth” (White Bison, 2002, p. 145). Courage dissolves our deepest fears. Communities finally build lasting unity.

(A Course in Miracles Wkbk Lesson 185, p. 3 de 4)

MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. –

— Martin Luther King Jr. (1929 – 1968), discurso “I Have a Dream” (1963)

A Course in Miracles revela una hermandad sagrada.

My goal is to improve life for others by making the burden that they bare easier to carry.

Hope helped me get sober. When I couldn’t imagine myself being sober, the stories of people in AA gave me hope that I could change.

I’ve been interested in science communication for a long time. That kind of skill: the ability to take a lot of information and break it down into parsable phrases, and the ability to make it short (especially these days), is increasingly helpful. Part of communicating any information *is* charisma, which can & often must be learned.

That’s one of the greatest speeches in American history. My contribution is a grain of sand compared to Martin Luther King’s speech. However if those of us who contribute love equaling a grain of sand each the outcome would be a vast beautiful beach… so let us continue to love one another respect one another and help somebody out who’s in need

I have a commitment at a meeting. It is a simple task, I greet people coming to a meeting. Yet this simple task allows me to contribute to something bigger than me and demonstrate responsibility and reliability. Being a part of something bigger than myself is a building and strengthening of hope and demonstrates faith that life continues in recovery.

Thank you for sharing recovery for me. Grateful.

Somethin’ greater than me at times is much needed, so that I can prosper, and accomplish what I want to accomplish. A good source of hope is much needed in my life right now, and keeps me focused to stay on a good path.

I have heard that the saying “Keep hope alive” is mocked in many ways. I do not want to confuse cynicism with sophistication – hopelessness and bitterness with being worldly. I can recognize cynicism in others and maintain hope in my own heart. I do not need to worry about how I appear to others (Pollyanna) – only that I act in concert with the love and hope I receive when I walk always (all ways) with my Higher Power.

Last Sunday, I was in the LA AIDS Walk for the first time. Not only did I not know how long it was but how also how 90% of people there seemed to have been families and high school children that were bussed in from all around town. Every year a new generation of young Angelenos get to take part in this worthy endeavor.

“Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps…and practice these principles in all our affairs.” I had not realized the enormity of these words. When I take my spiritual practices out into my world, I avoid gossip (a BIG problem for me), I am at peace (I do not become Our Lady of Perpetual Worry), and I treat everyone with love, acceptance, and Peace.
