IT MIGHT TAKE UP TO 10 YEARS JUST TO MASTER THE BASIC PROGRAM –

“When our lives
seem to be falling apart,
we reapply ourselves to
the basics of the … program.
We stay in close contact with
our sponsor, work the steps,
and go to meetings. We sur-
render again, knowing that
victory lies in the ad-
mission of defeat.”

Kindness of The Farmer :

Once, [upon a time], a king’s army was going back after a battle. Their food supplies got finished. The king asked his soldiers to go to a nearby village and get the grains. Some soldiers and their commander entered the village and met a farmer. The commander asked him, “Dear farmer, can you lead us to this village’s largest field?”

He took them to a large field. [Then] the commander ordered his soldiers, “Cut and collect all the grains.” At this, the farmer got scared, He said, “Sir, come and I’ll show you another field.”

The soldiers went with him to a small field. They collected the grains from that field. The commander asked the farmer why he led them to this field. The farmer replied, “That field belongs to someone else. How could I let you destroy it? This is my field and here I can allow you to do, what I wish.”

The king learnt of the farmer’s kind concern for others and paid him handsomely for his grains.

Good morning everyone + Happy Wednesday. Here is today’s thought. Sometimes, we can find ourselves over burdened. We can become easily stressed when we loose sight of our daily gift of living a sober life. Try this out, relax, breath deep, + think of not what of all the things you HAVE to do today, think of all the things you GET to do today. With an attitude of gratitude, you find yourself more relaxed + can even find the time for one more task. Blessings. BB

First thing is letting go of things I can’t control. Second is prioritizing if I have a lot to do. For example, only do what I absolutely must do and leave everything else for later. As for commitments, I also have a commitment to my own sobriety and well-being. If that could be compromised in any way, I may have to break a commitment with someone else. I have to weigh the consequences. And if I break a commitment to someone else, I do my best to make it up.

Tonight I have a commitment to attend a meeting. However, I did not sleep well last night and I am bone-tired this afternoon. Do I practice self-care and get some sleep or honor my commitment to attend the meeting?

I tend to feel people understand when I can’t make a commitment as long as I offer to make it up to them in some meaningful way.
