Analysis: The Quiet Surrender

Life often forces our hand. Life with Hope describes our battle with self-will. We reach a breaking point. Defeat marks the start of recovery. Faith grows from these difficult encounters. A Higher Power waits in the stillness.

Decision-making changes everything. Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions explains this shift. We choose to release the reins. Simple acts of faith open our spirits. We welcome a caring Great Spirit inside. Connection replaces our previous isolation.

Agnes de Mille noted life’s silent turning points. Destiny arrives without loud trumpets. This truth guides our path. Wellbriety teachings support this gentle surrender. “We learn to trust the rhythm of the universe” (White Bison, 2002, p. 94). Thich Nhat Hanh emphasized this awareness (Hanh, 1991). He taught us to breathe into the present. Letting go brings true freedom. Peace emerges when we stop resisting.

(Life with Hope, pp. 12-13)

Life with Hope describe nuestra batalla con la propia voluntad.

Soltar trae verdadera libertad. La paz emerge cuando dejamos de resistir.

The peace I had when I last took myself to detox was indescribable. I stopped wrestling and struggling with my demons and I was finally able to relax.

Been making spiritual progress by challenging myself and meditating on my discomfort. Learning to just sit with discomfort instead of trying to fix it has been elevating me and leading me toward more aligned expression

For me a few of those things would be practicing consistent prayer, participating in my program, and being serviced to others

Listening more and talking less brings me closer to my higher power.

Thank you for sharing recovery with me. Grateful.

Well trusting in my spirituality, and whatver that may look like for someone is very important to me, because sometimes my own willpower may lead me into a temptation that I’ll greatly regret. I go back and forth in my mind on the right actions to take, but if I’m truly listening to “O Great Spirit” as the Wellbriety way says it – I’ll feel like I’ve went in the right direction I think.

A recent behavior change- I have, for the (most part!) stopped trying to change people’s minds when they’re not open to it. Of course, it’s more difficult when there are immediate consequences from someone’s ignorance.

After admitting I’m powerless and my life has become unmanageable then believing I can be restored to sanity now it’s time to let go … from my experience if I don’t let go I am dragged…

Letting go and letting God. For me there is a serenity in saying the words. And further, when I take those words and put them into action stress is reduced, a calmness comes over me and the grip that my ego has over me is weakened. Letting go and letting God is peace for me.

One decision I have made is to retreat from involvement in a loved one’s life and let my HP take the reigns. Unfortunately, my presence hasn’t seemed to help. And after a month of letting go, my absence has definitely given me more peace of mind.

Good morning everyone + happy Thursday. Here is today’s thought. Sometimes an event happens in our lives which causes us to reevaluate our goals. We have to resort to Plan B. This can be difficult, especially if we were so focused on the Plan A life. But God is always with us + will guide yus through your new Plan. This is because this is God’s plan. So, when needed, make your Plan B into your Plan A. Blessings. BB

It seems like things that have been stagnant in my life have started moving. I’ve been thinking about ways to move my career ahead, everything is lined up to buy a house, and I’ve been gradually knocking off things that have been in the back of my mind for years. Not drinking and looking at my life in a more hopeful light has lead me to make the effort to move forward again.

I think my HP is more involved in my considerations of what actions to take and what not to do.

I do not know the magic formula that made me come to a 12-Step meeting. I try to figure out whether reading is more important, praying, going to meetings. How do the slogans work? I know when I remember them, my life becomes a lot easier. I know when I read literature, I learn so much; I know when I go to meetings I feel relief. When I pray I know anything is possible.
