Analysis: The Architecture of Trust

Betrayal wounds the trusting heart. The Basic Text emphasizes safe connections. Sponsors guide newcomers toward healing. Trusting experienced mentors builds true strength. Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions counsels wise discernment. We assess human motives with clear eyes. Blind trust invites further catastrophe.

William Shakespeare advocated selective trust. Healthy boundaries protect vulnerable souls. Meanwhile, a Higher Power restores our broken trust. Compassionate mentors anchor our drifting spirits. Wellbriety teachings illuminate this sacred path. “Trust grows where honesty takes root” (White Bison, 2002, p. 145). Genuine recovery requires courageous vulnerability. We learn to love again.

(Doce Pasos y Doce Tradiciones, p. 52)

WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE –

I’ve had to remind myself that while trust can be broken quickly, gaining trust back takes time.

I trust in God, I trust that the sun will rise over another day, but i don’t trust in humankind… people will let us down, we will let down people. Once that trust is broken, I just move on. There’s no need to waste any time to try to rebuild Trust. I do my part in working a particular step that has to do with it by put pen to paper, move forward and Let The Healing begin. The trust that has not let me down so Far is God and these God givin’ steps…

The only trust issues that I have been dealing with on a personal level as of late is learning to trust myself and my commitment to the benifits of being clean and sober. It is something that I deal with daily, some with more intensity than others. One of the ways I do this is with the help of my higher power, getting God in my head in the mornings before I do.

Thank you for sharing recovery with me. Grateful.

I have been pondering the difference between trust and expectations. Is it trust to expect that others will behave in a way that I have imagined? Is it trust to know that others will absolutely do whatever it is they are going to do? Is the difference that trust does not imagine outcomes while expectations do imagine outcomes? IMHE (In my humble experience) people are going to do exactly what we can – exactly what my pain, fear and courage allow me to do. No mas y no menos. No one can or will act out my dream except me. Namaste.

yup, i like to trust others, even when i sense something is off, and i dont do something about it
it always causes pain and regret later, then i do something hurtful to others and the treadmill keeps on going.. like ike and tina turner once said… rollin rollin rollin down the river . (may be a good video to post eh? hint hint. lol)

Well Great Minds must think a like because, Proud Mary, the title of that Tina & Ike classic, was in a SFZ last month. Just search for Proud Mary at the top of this web page and you’ll find it.

And keep those suggestions coming. They help alot.
