From Margot E.  – “I have never even contemplated the existence of “inner freedom.” I have only ever considered that there is physical freedom…and perhaps intellectual freedom. Spiritual freedom, emotional freedom add infinitely to quality of being. I exist in Choice in all these realms – so freedom in all these realms must be so. Learning and using these freedoms requires more thought and intention on my part.” (on Our Inner Reality)

Analysis: The Inward Journey

Exhausted minds and bodies crave relief. The Basic Text reveals dynamic forces at work. Deep inner conversion alters our core motivations. Furthermore, The Big Book uncovers profound spiritual truth. We discover a Great Reality inside ourselves. Diligent searching yields certain consciousness.

Rollo May demands exceptional courage for this inner journey. Preserving inward freedom surpasses fighting outward battles. Meanwhile, a Higher Power anchors our wandering souls. Wellbriety wisdom honors this sacred transformation. “The inner path reveals our true medicine” (White Bison, 2002, p. 145). Radical introspection dissolves old habits completely. We embrace authentic spiritual freedom instead.

ROLLO MAY –

— Rollo May (1909 – 1994), psicólogo existencial estadounidense

I would say for me, the ongoing transformation of my heart and mind is to align with the character of Christ

Well I/ can’t always speak for everyone else, but for me I think today I saw change and strength that has grown more through meditation + exercise that I did as well mention at some meetings I attended today. Listening more closely would be lettin’ go of hopelessness that my goals are obtainable, also not giving into temptation that arises at times. Through dire meditation and study I know this can build my mental strength stronger, and stronger.

First I quiet my mind, and observe any thoughts or emotions. Then I asked God to take control of my mind and in my consciousness I can work on things that need strengthening. Somebody suggested one time to empty my mind and think of absolutely nothing and that did not work for me…so now when I meditate I sit quietly and I think of the presence of God and his peace and that strengthens my mind today… my conscience is his voice speaking to me and giving me the strength to start another day

The more distance between myself and using the clarity and self-awareness returns. This changes my inner motivations and aligns them closer to the person I aspire to be, and not who I can become when using.

Thank you for sharing recovery with me. Grateful

I do think of others more often, but more importantly, I ask myself regularly what my motivations are. And if I’m thinking or doing something just to feed my ego, then I take a step back and change my action and/or my thinking. I bought a house that was smaller and less expensive than what my ego wanted, and what I could have purchased. I knew something more expensive would have ended up messing with my peace of mind in the end.
