Analysis: The Strength of Humility

Surrender transforms our broken spirits into beacons of resilience. It Works: How and Why reminds us to turn toward a Higher Power when spiritual practice falters. We ask this loving force to remove our deep-seated flaws. Furthermore, Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions warns against controlling our own destiny. Self-will creates empty beliefs without true grounding.

Mahatma Gandhi championed steadfast conviction against overwhelming odds. True strength emerges through quiet surrender rather than force. Marcus Aurelius similarly observed, “You have power over your mind—not outside events” (Aurelius, 2002, p. 37). Likewise, Wellbriety teachings emphasize spiritual alignment over personal dominance. “Humility is recognizing that we are all connected” (White Bison, 2002, p. 142). Sacred principles guide our steps through trials. Consequently, grace sustains our highest convictions against heavy odds.

Daily prayer, no matter what, helps me to redirect.

I have felt myself slipping away from my program. I’m going to go to a meeting today to rectify that.

I’ve been struggling with consistency and follow through. I feel a higher calling in many ways and yet struggle to push over the hump in engaging with it. Not to go too much into detail but that’s the gist. I want to hold onto consistency, responsibility, and integrity, and thus build the castle in my dreams instead of wishing for it.

When life gets hard I’ll admit that old habits do start lookin’ better to partake in, because I’ve ran my marathon in thoughts, and simply must give into somethin’ that may be potentially harmful. The harm tends to outweigh the possibly of relapse each and ever time though. I’m fortunate to have had some setbacks to realize that I don’t want those old habits to resurface, I mean who likes blank out states? Sometimes when I find medicative alternatves in life right now it feels like some perverse individuals are puttin’ evil eyes towards moi(me).

Observe, not absorb. As my tools sharpen, the old habits from using which sits in Ego become quieter and have less impact. The healthy behaviors rooted in spiritual principles are guiding behaviors, allowing me to observe drama and not absorb it. This is a life changing swing toward growth in becoming a spiritual being, not a upset reactionary.

Thank you for sharing recovery with me. Grateful.

Sometimes a newcomer will ask how to stop feeling a certain way – how to get rid of guilt, how to get rid of shame, how to stop obsessing. I do not know. As I take off my God cape, I can honestly say, “I don’t know.” I do know what has worked for me. And I can point to others who may have had a similar/same problem. And I cannot remove defects of character. I can simply say, “Keep coming back.” I have learned to hear the voice of my Higher Power – in the rooms of the fellowship – in the silence of my meditation.

I think this billionaire song is rather ironic considering today’s theme. I’m not so sure I’d want to be a billionaire “so freakin bad”. Of course when I make my first million, I’ll be a better judge of that.

Till then, I think I’ll concentrate on developing values that will help to keep me spiritually free.
