THE PATH WITHOUT RESERVATION –
“When we have finally admitted without reservation that we are powerless … we are apt to breathe a great sigh of relief, saying, “Well, thank God that’s over!” “Then we learn, … that this is only the first milestone on the new road we are walking.” (12 & 12, p. 73) on being grateful.

What “blessings” or gifts from your recovery do you feel especially grateful for and why lately?
Be Grateful For What You Have:
A rich landowner named Carl often rode around his vast estate so he could congratulate himself on his great wealth. One day while riding around his estate on his favourite horse, he saw Hans, an old tenant farmer. Hans was sitting under a tree when Carl rode on the horse. Hans said, “I was just thanking god for my food”.
Carl protested, “If that is all I had to eat, I wouldn’t feel like giving thanks”.
Hans replied, “god has given me everything I need and I am thankful for it”.
The old farmer added, “It is strange you should come by today because I had a dream; a voice told me… the richest man in the valley will die tonight “.”I thought to tell you about my dream so I told
about it”.
Carl snorted, “Dreams are nonsense and don’t have truth so don’t believe in dreams ” and galloped away, but he couldn’t forget Hans’s word and was …..The richest man in the valley will die tonight. He was obviously the richest man in the valley; he was terrified and didn’t want to take any risk so he invited his doctor to his house that evening. Carl said “My tenant farmer said me about the dream, that a voice in his dream told him that the richest man in the will die tonight so I thought to call you for my health check up”, “I am the only rich man the valley please help me”.
Doctor said, “don’t worry I will start with your checkups”. After a thorough examination, the doctor told the wealthy landowner, “Carl, you are fine and strong and healthy too”. There is no way you are going to die. Nevertheless, for assurance, the doctor stayed with Carl, and they played cards through the night. The doctor left the next morning and Carl apologised for becoming so upset over the old man’s dream.
At about nine o’clock, one of his messenger arrived at Carl’s door. The messenger explained, “It’s about the old man Hans. He died last night in his sleep”. That day Carl learnt a lesson that “you don’t need money to be rich, be grateful for what you have in life and you will feel happier”. I am grateful that i still have friends that when my fears appear they still show up to comfort me and just be there for me. Even strangers sometimes would do the same, that reminds me that i am not alone even in the midle of a seeming fear of danger that may not be based on any facts, perhaps based only in a ramdom projection of ones own fears, doubts and worries of whatever is happing in the exterior world.
I believe we all have our own world within perhaps a mirror image of the actual world or perhaps a version of our own interpretation of the world based on projections one makes of our own llife experiences.
For today I am grateful that I can turn to friends and even strabgers and find comfort in my soul.
Down the road to bliss are flash backs of old behaviors. You cant stop it. but you can notice and find ways to change.
The stable home that I have to experience.
I’m grateful for all the friends and relationships in my life. It’s feeling very full and rewarding. And it’s been a long journey to get here. I hope it lasts for a long time.
