Analysis: Service and Authority

Memorial Day honors those who gave everything. We reflect on true sacrifice today. Service defines the spirit of leadership. John Quincy Adams believed leaders inspire others to grow. True authority flows from a Higher Power. No human structure governs our inner path.

Traditions protect our collective mission. The Big Book poses questions about true direction. We find answers in humble service. Overeaters Anonymous emphasizes this spiritual autonomy. Our actions must mirror this quiet grace. We serve others without seeking power.

Wellbriety teachings clarify this vital balance. “Leadership is an act of service to the Creator” (White Bison, 2002, p. 89). Martin Luther King Jr. echoed this noble ideal (King, 1968). He championed the transformative power of selfless love. Leaders empower rather than command. We follow this path with open hearts. Today, we remember those who paved the way. Their legacy lives through our intentional choices.

TÓMATE UN MOMENTO PARA: EL DÍA DE LOS CAÍDOS (MEMORIAL DAY) MIENTRAS HONRAMOS A AQUELLOS QUE PAGARON EL SACRIFICIO SUPREMO – PASO 2

¿QUIÉN ES EL JEFE? –

My most precious gift to give anyone is time. When we selflessly give our time freely in support anything external, it is our greatest gift, priceless and precious. It gets us out of ego.

Thank you for sharing recovery with me. Grateful.

I like doing service at the AT center for instance, and sometimes I go to another recovery place (goal of once a week), and I help out there freely, because I want to keep my mind in a state of complete abstinence of things that want to cause harm, and be freely of service.

A power greater than ourself can be anything. Personally, I don’t care what it /is/. I’m not looking for some underlying ‘truth’. Looking for absolute truths can be relevant to how people act. It can help folks act ‘better’ (more helpful, loving, kind, etc.)

I do believe humans share some common imagination in the way of sociological memes or widespread legends. Common beliefs and interests. The way people help each other, that intrinsic generosity, builds connections and community which keeps many individuals alive. That’s God enough for me.

I remember all the times when people have helped me out while I thought I was a burden to them… and yet they were smiling and seemed to be enjoying giving me the help that I needed at that time… so that goes back to the old saying how can I keep it if I don’t give it away… so when I am able to help somebody else out, it actually helps me more than it does the other person…

Blessings to us all. I make an effort every day to do something unseen. Wash an extra plate, Put away something that has been left out. Say a kind word to someone that might feel lonely. Character is what we do when no one is watching. Equally, its not something I try to expose or seek praise from. I am grateful to participate and be included and happy to give that which I have.

Good morning everyone + Happy Thursday. I am part of AA. Although I am one among many, I am one. Through the fellowship of my brothers + sisters, I receive help to build the buried life within me. AA may be human in its origin, but is divine in its purpose. The purpose is to guide me toward God + a better life. I vote for AA. Blessings. BB

I often help clean up after meetings. Chairs away, etc. Washed coffee cups a few nights ago. I always put at least $2 in the basket, one for me and one for someone who can’t pay. I tip well outside of AA every day.
