Analysis: Service and Authority

Memorial Day honors those who gave everything. We reflect on true sacrifice today. Service defines the spirit of leadership. John Quincy Adams believed leaders inspire others to grow. True authority flows from a Higher Power. No human structure governs our inner path.

Traditions protect our collective mission. The Big Book poses questions about true direction. We find answers in humble service. Overeaters Anonymous emphasizes this spiritual autonomy. Our actions must mirror this quiet grace. We serve others without seeking power.

Wellbriety teachings clarify this vital balance. “Leadership is an act of service to the Creator” (White Bison, 2002, p. 89). Martin Luther King Jr. echoed this noble ideal (King, 1968). He championed the transformative power of selfless love. Leaders empower rather than command. We follow this path with open hearts. Today, we remember those who paved the way. Their legacy lives through our intentional choices.

TÓMATE UN MOMENTO PARA: EL DÍA DE LOS CAÍDOS (MEMORIAL DAY) MIENTRAS HONRAMOS A AQUELLOS QUE PAGARON EL SACRIFICIO SUPREMO – PASO 2

¿QUIÉN ES EL JEFE? –

I’ve experienced group conscience lately by participating in such things like Stress Free Zones , and going to meetings whenever possible. Being apart of the community in positive ways brings good karma to me in the end. Life has seemed like it has spiraled down left, and right for me, while picking back up. I can’t understand sometimes since I’m course a great (good) individual + caring – my outcomes haven’t changed all the way for the better yet.

In AA the group conscious is a democratic process by which the group makes decisions rather than a mandate from a leader or a board.

Everyday, at least once, I am of service to my house. It is not done for glory, rather to be a part of something bigger than myself. The same is true with meetings, I love to be of service to help.

Thank you for sharing recovery with me. Grateful.

I think I’ve experienced group consciousness, by going to meetings, and even taking part in the stress free zones. I always find a lot of resourceful outlets that help me along in life. I keep group conscientiousness as back up too when things seem to be going not as well as I’d quite want them too as well.

When everybody collectively comes up with a solution or an opinion on something regarding our journey in AA… I would trust this rather than the opinion or suggestion of just one individual as a leader

The greatness of the world is not the rugged individualism of a person, rather it is in individuals, coming together, to build a better world for everyone. Being of service, helping others, being a part of something bigger than self, all of these things make life, my life, better. Living with others, I have the blessing of experiencing more than just me all the time. Being connected and a part of a larger world. And this also makes my connection to God stronger as I give thanks for being included.

“You’re not the only one…” use to upset me because it was hard to fathom that others were going through the same thing as me. Once I felt comfortable in recovery and came to believe in fellowship and in the power of unity, I realized I had a lot to learn from others and could find comfort in understanding that I am still learning and becoming whole. Whole with people feels better than whole with no one.

Good morning everyone + happy Wednesday. Here is today’s thought. We all have times of struggle. But struggle can bring much spiritual growth. Turn your greatest defeat + failure + sickness to a tool to help others with the heavy burden that is pressing upon them. Many souls will be helped because of your efforts. Blessings. BB

On the day of the eclipse a week or so ago, I sat with a group of friends and meditated and thought how cool it was that people all over the world are experiencing how immense the universe is in this way. It made the world feel much much smaller and humanity more human.

I try not to be amazed at the wisdom of the group conscience. When a vote does not go the way I want, it always turns out for the best – so much so that I cannot imagine what would have happened otherwise. When we sit together and reason things out, the result is always in our best interests. I don’t have to figure out everything by myself: should I confront someone? How do I handle resentments? Should I speak up when my boss promotes something I am against? How important is it? Easy does it. Let go and let God.
