Analysis: Finding the Light

Isolation fuels our deepest despair. The Basic Text emphasizes the value of community. Friends offer strength during our darkest hours. We face life’s challenges as a united force. Compassion replaces our previous feeling of entrapment. Genuine care lightens our heaviest burdens.

Doubt often clouds our internal landscape. The Big Book captures the struggle with cynicism. We fear the absence of a meaningful order. Yet, a Higher Power works through our shared kindness. This spiritual connection heals our wounded perspectives. Transformation begins when we embrace one another.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. rejected the inevitability of darkness (King, 1963). He believed in the triumph of unconditional love. Wellbriety teachings mirror this hopeful vision for humanity. “Our healing flourishes when we walk the red road together” (White Bison, 2002, p. 45). Unity acts as a beacon for every seeker. Truth eventually overcomes the shadows of discord. We choose the dawn of brotherhood today. Small steps lead us toward a lasting, bright peace.

Choosing fellowship, despite my exhaustion. Granted, I don’t always do that- I need sleep! But it’s often worth it.

We are at war with addiction

“When in difficult country, do not encamp. In country where high roads intersect, join hands with your allies. Do not linger in dangerously isolated positions. In hemmed-in situations, you must resort to stratagem. In desperate position, you must fight. “

In some ways I found myself feeling alienated from the campers on this most recent trip to Bass Lake. But there were still many moments when I connected one-on-one with a number of those attending.

I practices by saying yes just saying yes to people whether I want to or not and letting the results out of my control I think eventually I’ll develop some strong bonds with other people and I’ll be able to look back and say I have a true friend but if not that’s not my goal to have friends my goal is to feel connected with people and be able to love them

I sometimes despair of our human condition. It is easy to see the results of fear, shame, violence and denial all around me. It is only when I can clear my mind of the need for material goods, and accept unconditional love for all of my brothers and sisters that I get to imagine the other side of Dr. King’s Mountain. My Higher Power has given me the capacity to love, a need to connect and the faculties to question the status quo. I can go in peace if I choose.
