BREATHE – “Here we ask God [or our H.P.* ] for inspiration, an intuitive thought or a decision. We relax and take it easy.  [W]e don’t struggle. We are often surprised how the right answers come after we have tried this for a while.”  (The Big Book, p. 86)

Take It Easy – The Eagles (5:55)

Extended Nature Meditation LP (42:34)

Analysis: Finding Calm Beyond the Storm

Careless haste stirs up old troubles. The Basic Text cautions against self-severity. We often judge our broken parts too harshly. Henry David Thoreau advised immersing ourselves in wholesome outdoors. Surrender requires gentle relaxation. Consequently, peace returns when we stop fighting reality.

The Big Book encourages quiet reflection. We ask a Higher Power for intuitive direction. Spiritual teacher Ram Dass noted that “the quieter you become, the more you can hear” (Dass, 1978, p. 42). Furthermore, Wellbriety teachings emphasize serene patience. “Healing happens when we quiet our restless mind” (White Bison, 2002, p. 145). Spirit restores us through gentle openness. We discover strength in stillness.

No luchamos.

— Henry David Thoreau (1817 – 1862), poeta y novelista estadounidense

How have you chased away the blues, lately?

I have let myself tell people I love what i’m going through to share the burden . I think a lot of times, i think I got to go through things on my own, and when I ended up doing 12hrs in the ER this past weekend . Connecting with my family and loves in my life from afar, really helped me get through the pain and loneliness, I was going through ~

Connection, and reaching out . Instead of internalizing.

Worry. It is a down payment on a bill I may never have. Long ago I realized how much my mom worried about everything and especially things she had no control over. Then, guess what, I realized that was me also. It is a trait I definitely inherited from her. As I work on healing and become closed to mindfulness, the worry is greatly diminished.

Trusting that everything is the way it is supposed to be, for whatever lesson, helps me to reduce the worry and enjoy the moment.

Thank you for sharing recovery with me. Grateful.

I’ve chased away the blues by at least only wantin’ positivity in my life. Doin’ some of the things I adore so much also are virtuous activities for moi(me) that keep me
positive. I like when we borrow each other’s ideas too for what’s workin’ to change their lives for the better. The right type of fixations may seem mental, but could actually be somethin’ tryna keep us safe. A beautiful world is always a good sense of peace/zen as well as refreshin’. Even if we check out what takes away the bad blues for another it doesn’t mean we have to be all the way into the same things if it doesn’t fit our characteristics all the way. Everyone seems to get a work ethic these days too, so that’s somethin’ else I keep always strivin’ at to stay away from the abusive idle time we’ve all experienced I’m sure. The part where sometimes I’m torn is when there might be environmental abuse lately too that just drains some of us in a way. Okay, optimistic is always very key to me when I want to forever keep away negativity as well as any other racist words I might find out I’m takin’ as.

I find that my life improves when I act as if I believe in god. It’s hard sometimes because faith in a higher power doesn’t come naturally to me. I am can be cynical and feel skeptical of things that I can physically prove. I have been getting better though and I am grateful for that

It is very important for me not to let life’s troubles overwhelm me. The song lyrics by The Eagles Take It Easy is a good example of that
I have a choice I can deal with life’s troubles sober and not let them overwhelm me or I can deal with life’s troubles drunk and have them become mountains of obstacles… the most important thing for me to do is before I begin my day I ask God to direct my thinking and remove any self-pity or self-seeking motives…
