Question:::  What would looking in the same direction of your own Loving Higher Power look like for you?

Featured Comment by Jon G. ::: “Looking in the same direction of my loving higher power would involve constantly and vigilantly lookin’ for opportunities to get out of myself and be of service to others. Just as my higher power is always there to be of service to me I too have to always be willing to be or service to his other children.”

On Marriage

by Kahlil Gibran (1883-1931)

Then Almitra spoke again and said, And what of Marriage, master?
And he answered saying:
You were born together, and together you shall be forevermore.
You shall be together when the white wings of death scatter your days.
Ay, you shall be together even in the silent memory of God.
But let there be spaces in your togetherness,
And let the winds of the heavens dance between you.

Love one another, but make not a bond of love:
Let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls.
Fill each other’s cup but drink not from one cup.
Give one another of your bread but eat not from the same loaf.
Sing and dance together and be joyous, but let each one of your be alone,
Even as the strings of the lute are alone though they quiver with the same music.

Give your hearts, but not into each other’s keeping.
For only the hand of Life can contain your hearts.
And stand together yet not too near together:
For the pillars of the temple stand apart,
And the oak tree and the cypress grow not in each other’s shadow.

I believe in doing contrary actions. I only have control over my graduate and my attitude.

Looking in the same direction of my loving higher power would involve constantly and vigilantly looking for opportunities to get out of myself and be of service to others. Just as my higher power is always there to be of service to me I too have to always be willing to be or service to his other children.

Good morning everyone + Happy Thursday. Here is today’s thought. So many people concentrate on becoming physically fit. But we also need to deal with our spiritual flabbines. We need to become spiritually fit as well. This is done by doing spiritual disciplines of prayer, meditation, reading the Big Book + other recovery literature, worship, + being of service. Think about it. Do it. Your soul will become spiritually fit. Blessings. BB

Good morning everyone + Happy Wednesday. Here is today’s thought. You can make a difference. Although you are small, + your efforts may be small, + with seemingly small offerings , you do make a difference in God’s dream for the world. So, stand up + help. You will make the difference. Blessings. BB

Things don’t always turn out the way I think they should. Sometimes bad things happen. But they turn out the way the were meant to turn out and I can only affect what is immediately within my reach. That is what my HP knows and I clearly see.

I got really angry at a colleague yesterday and I had to put time into figuring out what fears were underlying my anger. I tried justifying the anger (“he betrayed me!”); I tried figuring out why I should not be angry (“well, he was doing all he could…”). The process that worked best for me was realizing I thought he did not respect me – and more than that, I was not worthy of respect. There was no wrong or right. Only we two bumping along trying to figure out what got the results we wanted, and what did not.
    Welcome, Billy!
