I sometimes acknowledge that I am in trouble and have the presence of mind to consciously ask my Higher Power for help. When I am deep in the mix I may not get my head above water long enough to realize that I can pray. I am working on just being aware enough to stop and just breathe.
Brita & JB jr, thanks so much for your comments. I struggle with those exact same issues. It is so comforting to know that others are living in Recovery with some of my questions and fears. Thanks again.
How to ask for help is tricky for me. Particularly when it comes to other people. But even with my HP I want to make sure my intention is not just to be lazy but to have come to the realization I am over my head.
Re: cooperate with Higher Power: I am always struggling to know what is my part to do, and what to give up to my Higher Power to do. I guess that is the Serenity prayer exactly.
