The Single Strongest Source for Inner Peace – Step 6

When I examine myself and my methods of thought, I come to the conclusion that the gift of fantasy has meant more to me than any talent for abstract, positive thinking.”  Albert Einstein (1879 – 1955) German-American scientist on inner peace

What “great gifts” of your own have you used lately, to achieve inner peace?

Our Lady Peace

by Mark van Doren

How far is it to peace, the piper sighed,
The solitary, sweating as he paused.
Asphalt the noon; the ravens, terrified,
Fled carrion thunder that percussion caused.

The envelope of earth was powder loud;
The taut wings shivered, driven at the sun.
The piper put his pipe away and bowed.
Not here, he said. I hunt the love-cool one,

The dancer with the clipped hair. Where is she?
We shook our heads, parting for him to pass.
Our lady was of no such trim degree,
And none of us had seen her face, alas.

She was the very ridges that we must scale,
Securing the rough top. And how she smiled
Was how our strength would issue. Not to fail
Was having her, gigantic, undefiled,

For homely goddess, big as the world that burned,
Grandmother and taskmistress, frild and town.
We let the stranger go; but when we turned
Our lady lived, fierce in each other’s frown.

I am more readily able to talk myself out of feeling crappy and being so ego driven. When I’m driving I’m able more easily calm myself down and think and feel more with compassion.

Did anyone happen to notice that, Donald Sutherland was being a little forward as he was telling Steve Prefontaine about the proper way to position his hips while running.

I suppose inspiration can take many forms. This latter dimension was lost on me the first time I watched the video.

I sometimes pretend I do not know what Gifts I have been given. When I consider all that is mine, it is breathtaking in its enormity. “Thank you” seems inadequate to acknowledge these gifts. Perhaps the best or only thanks is in using my gifts to be of service in this universe.

???? do you mean what can never be given up?, if thats the case reminds me of the principles of the serenity prayer.

      Technically, you are correct sir.

No matter how many times I read these titles I post I still make minor errors.

Its now corrected and I put in caps the 2 words I was missing.

The impression I intended was for one to think about the things they “give up”.

So thank you for picking that up. At least this way its correct on the website for others who come after us.
