A Few Ways We can Honor the Veterans of Wars at Home, Abroad and the Wars within the Soul – Step 8

AND BY LETTING LOVE TAKE ROOT AND FLOW – “By giving unconditional love in the fellowship, we become more loving, and by sharing spiritual growth we become more spiritual.” [ Thusly, ] (The Basic Text, p. 82)

Additionally, how have you responded with unconditional love when faced with adversity, lately?

MILLIONS OF QUEERS

by a gay Jewish World War II veteran, Allen Bernstein.

WHY WRITE ABOUT THEM?

Why not write about them? “Literature exists”, according to the
dissenting opinion in the appealed Ulysses decision. “To refresh
the weary, console the sad, hearten the dull and downcast, to
increase man’s interest in the world, his joy of living/   And
his sympathy in a11 sorts and conditions of man.”

Travellers returning from strange adventure in far ends of the
world owe civilization a report.  A Byrd who remained silent after
months in deliberate Antarctic loneliness.  A Peary who went to
the Pole and declared “no statement to make” would lack a sense
of obligation to society.  An American volunteer in a foreign war, or
a scientific worker who kept his specialized knowledge.   Or the
the results of his individual experiments locked up in himself
would work for the spreading of ignorance and falsehood. Those
who have undergone any atypical out-of-the-way experiences
that give them a fund of special knowledge have the right and
the duty to communicate it to others.

FEATURED POST FROM THE ZONR VAULT – I went to a 70’s party last night and I began to remember what that time of my life was like. I remember feeling unloved, even though I had two children who I love very much. I remember feeling lost with no anchor, no rudder, no idea of which way to shore. I have been in 12-Step rooms for 9 years now. Today I am learning about loving everyone, forgiveness, and the gratitude which forms the foundation for a more joyous life. Today Al-Anon is teaching me how to love, how to be of service, and above all, how to let go. I am nobody else’s Higher Power.
