HAPPY, SLAPPY JOY & FUN CAN BE CONTAGIOUS – “… we are not a glum lot. If newcomers could see no joy or fun in our existence, they wouldn’t want it.  We absolutely insist on enjoying life.” (Life with Hope, p. 162)

Analysis: The Radiance of Recovery

Recovery thrives on visible happiness. Life with Hope rejects a somber existence. We must insist on enjoying our days. This vibrancy attracts the newcomer. A bleak life offers little hope. Instead, we model a life worth living. Joy acts as a spiritual magnet. It pulls others toward the light.

The Overeaters Anonymous text emphasizes a caring atmosphere. Love creates a safe sanctuary for all. This unity strengthens every member. The Dalai Lama claims happiness is life’s purpose (Lama, 1998, p. 13). Our Higher Power desires our complete fulfillment. The Red Road to Wellbriety echoes this sentiment clearly. “Joy is the gift of the Great Spirit” (White Bison, 2002, p. 45). We find strength in shared laughter.

Mohandas Gandhi urged us to take bold action. We must move toward our desires. While he was a peace activist rather than a Prime Minister, his wisdom remains timeless. Happiness requires active participation. We build a life of purpose through service. This process creates a contagious spirit. Others see our change and want the same. We celebrate our freedom with every breath.

Nuestro Poder Superior desea nuestra plenitud total.

Debemos avanzar hacia nuestros deseos.

One thing that makes me feel joyous today is not to be using any substances that could be potentially harmful for my body. When I’m not using, I do feel a sense of relief. Some of the alternatives I found for pain have been blessedly sent. Feelings of exploitation lately can make it harder to completely abstain

Sometimes i go to the meeting before the meeting that’s where the real fun is… just hanging loose and talking and laughing and not glorifying the past but definitely making fun of it… blending fellowship with spiritual purpose

Hanging out in the kitchen chatting with everyone had been fun- and it’s not something I’d do at all ig I just want in recovery.

I love to laugh, even before getting clean, but it’s only been in recovery that I’ve laughed so hard I almost fainted! It’s only been in recovery that I was even able to feel so amused. I had so much fun in rehab and continue to have fun with new friends in recovery. Super grateful!

Hearing or participating in Laughter in our house brings me joy. Knowing that we are not a glum lot and that we do enjoy life, each other and good humor. There is a season for all the emotions and feelings, and Laughter is music to our soul, let us celebrate it often.

Thank you for sharing recovery with me. Grateful.

Good morning everyone + Happy Tuesday. I was listening to “Physical Attraction” by Madonna today. I nice upbeat song. I started to think about Spiritual Attraction. This is the yearning of the soul for the presence of God. Become spiritual strong. How do we do this? Each challenge we encounter is an opportunity to grow into a better person. So, seek out Spiritual Attraction. Become spiritual strong. Blessings.
