Analysis: The Current of Compassion

Grace flows like a boundless river. It begins when we admit defeat in Step 1. The Basic Text calls us to share this gift. We receive help from a Higher Power. Next, we offer that same hope to others. This act transforms a personal blessing into a communal light.

Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions describes the power of prayer. Daily meditation clears the debris from our spiritual channels. A small trickle eventually becomes a rushing stream. This flow offers sure power and steady guidance. Consequently, we find the strength to face any storm.

Rumi describes the soul as an expansive ocean. He suggests we contain the entire universe within (Rumi, 1995, p. 104). Similarly, Wellbriety teaches us about the Great Spirit. “Grace allows us to walk the Red Road with dignity” (White Bison, 2002, p. 45). This sacred energy fuels our daily steps.

St. Augustine explains that grace empowers our good deeds. We do not earn this favor through works alone. Rather, grace gives us the ability to serve others. We become vessels for a love greater than ourselves.

Today, I can give myself grace by allowing myself to enjoy this beautiful life that I am building, instead of dwelling on the mistakes of the past. I have a pretty special job today, and I would not be doing it still if I had never learned from my mistakes and continued past the point of no return. Today, people have trust in me, and specifically ask for my presence. 🐇

    Grace is undeserved favor.
Easter Sunday Grace signifies the free unmerited gift of God’s love and salvation made possible through Jesus Christ’s Resurrection, which overcomes sin and death.

A great way to be kind is to be of service to others. Without expectation or need of reward. There is always a way to contribute through service and assistance to others.

Thank you for sharing recovery with me. Grateful. Happy Easter.

Grace in its most practical manifestation today for me is about being kind to my self in the face of challenge. There is a fair share of obstacles in my life currently that can easily derail progress in other areas should I let it. It is in the time of self doubt or self flagellation that I work diligently to move back into a state of grace.

Today’s safe free zone reminds me that grace from my higher power is not given just for me, but for the boundless others that may benefit from a positive version of myself that comes from the program.

I often pray for grace, am thankful for it, and the compassion to give grace to others in all my affairs 🙂 it means to me a sort of radical acceptance and forgiveness based in compassion. May you all be happy, healthy, and free from suffering.

I feel much more enriched as I discover new ways to meditate. Whether in nature or at home or thru the links. My connection with my higher power is strengthened in new ways now.

The prayer I must not forget each day is a prayer of Gratitude. I ask my Higher Power to watch over those that I love; I send out memories to my ancestors; and I try not to interfere in the lives of others by praying for specific things for them. Someone shared at a meeting that sometimes when we pray for others we are simply interfering. So, in light of the fact that others are on their particular journeys, guided by a Power greater than any of us, I ask for peace, progress, hope, and light for us all. And I thank my Higher Power for all that I have and all that I am.
