the sole purpose of
human existence is
to kindle a light in
the darkness of
mere being.”

Well, Well, Well (The Woodentops)

Carl Jung on Shadow & Enlightenment Meditation (6:41)

Analysis: Guarding the Light

Purpose guides our collective journey. It Works: How and Why suggests regular inventory. Groups must stay focused on their mission. This clarity keeps our message pure. We navigate wisely to avoid injury. Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions sets clear boundaries. We remain free from outside influence.

Carl Jung saw life as a search for light. We kindle this spark in dark places. A Higher Power directs our internal work. This light illuminates hidden corners of our soul. We replace shadows with honest reflection. Every group serves as a beacon.

Wellbriety teachings support this journey toward wholeness. “We must clear our path to find true vision” (White Bison, 2002, p. 104). Viktor Frankl also emphasized finding deep meaning (Frankl, 1959). His words remind us that purpose overcomes adversity. We protect our integrity through constant attention. This commitment honors those who seek healing. Unity remains our strongest shield. Our future grows from these focused choices.

Being an ear for someone can help that person…sometimes instead of giving advice sometimes someone just needs to be listened too…

Taking care of all of me even when it is not comfortable. Lately I have been dealing with some health issues and while it would be easier in some ways to ignore them. all the things I want, that I will achieve in life are on the other side of being truly healthy. Mind, body and spirit.

Thank you for sharing recovery with me. Grateful.

I am often guilty of taking a group’s inventory. I am also quick to judge an entire group based solely on a few of its members. One instance that comes to mind is a book study I attend from time to time. Most of its regular members nauseate me. They are arrogant, pompous and self-righteous. However, they have a knowledge of the book that I want. An analogy I like to use is I often had connections whom I could not stand but I wanted what they were selling. Its the same with this group. I can’t stand most of its members but they have something that I want–knowledge of the book.

My last share in a meeting was meant for someone specifically who has been suffering a lot lately, but stated in a general way for the entire meeting. So I contributed to that meeting’s primary purpose.

Sometimes I reach a dark place within myself that knows no Higher Power. I begin to pray whether I think it does any good or not. I remember that I do not have to live the way I used to live – pain and self-pity. When I can reach out to someone, anyone else, the darkness recedes and I am once again reconnected to my Higher Power.
