Analysis: The Power of Willingness

Life demands active effort from every soul. OA 12 & 12 asks if we will invest our time to change. Such investment prevents us from taking miracles for granted. How Al-Anon Works shows that healing requires a massive willingness. We must do whatever it takes to recover. This mindset transforms our entire journey.

Seneca noted that fate guides the willing person effortlessly. Meanwhile, stubborn resistance drags the unwilling along a harsh path. A Higher Power rewards our open hearts with peace. Wellbriety teachings echo this vital truth about surrender. “Willingness opens the door to lasting healing” (White Bison, 2002, p. 45). Buddha also taught that our intentions shape our reality (Gombrich, 2009). Choosing willingness breaks old cycles of pain. Every small step forward brings profound renewal.

(How Al-Anon Works, p. 54)

— Lucio Anneo Séneca (3 a. C. – 65 d. C.)

When I finally give up control, I realize that that’s when things unfold as they should.

Choosing to be willing will always help you face hard times better, for our willingness to change will inevitably lead us towards taking better action. Nothing in life will happen until you are willing.

I think choosing to be willing is important because we can choose to face discomfort and stress and press on regardless. This is at the root of building a better life from the previous state of self seeking and self destructive behaviors.

Lead and the bridge appears. I would not be here without faith, the faith that things will work out.

Now things do not always work out they way I might imagine, however they always work out. Everything is as it is supposed to be so that I can learn what must be learned to reach whatever it coming next.

By not having expectations or reducing them, I am open to the potential unseen. Having faith that life will turn out in miraculous ways.

When I struggle with something I give it to God. Step five talks about the exact nature of our wrongs, if you study the word nature it means the reason behind it and what’s the reason behind that… that’s how I did deep to get the keys to Freedom but it will not happen unless I become willing

Ive heard of it happening quite often actually. At one place it was lots of money. I don’t think they called the police.

In my opinion, we be spending down treasury so that a minimal prudent reserve is left. But that’s up the group to make sure that is being done. Plus, its also up to the group to really be clear on who is handling the treasury.

I think its more important for the group to learn from this event than to meat out individual responsibility.

What to do if the Treasurer makes off with the Treasury? Do I go with Tradition 6 and Concept 4? Or do we file a police report to get the money back? Being encouraged to report to police; is it old behavior not to want to do this? Or is it recovery to simply make people accountable for their transgressions? Need suggestions ASAP!
