A Few Simple Ways to Rekindle the Resplendent Joy We had in Our Youth – Step 12

LETTING THE JOY SHINE THRU IN ALL WE DO –  “Yes, we are a vision of hope.” “The joy that we have in living clean is an attraction to the addict who still suffers.”  “The steps are a new beginning!” (The Basic Text, p. 53)

Today’s SFZ

“The joy of life consists in the exercise of one’s energies, continual growth, constant change, and the enjoyment of every new experience.  To stop means simply to die.”

– Aleister Crowley (1875 – 1947) British spiritualist / occultist

In what ways have you brought joy into your life, lately?

The Hunting Of The Snark

by Lewis Carroll

Dedication

Inscribed to a dear Child:
in memory of golden summer hours
and whispers of a summer sea.

Girt with a boyish garb for boyish task,
Eager she wields her spade; yet loves as well
Rest on a friendly knee, intent to ask
The tale he loves to tell.

Rude spirits of the seething outer strife,
Unmeet to read her pure and simple spright,
Deem, if you list, such hours a waste of life,
Empty of all delight!

Chat on, sweet Maid, and rescue from annoy
Hearts that by wiser talk are unbeguiled.

Ah, happy he who owns that tenderest joy,
The heart-love of a child!

Away, fond thoughts, and vex my soul no more!
Work claims my wakeful nights, my busy days–
Albeit bright memories of that sunlit shore
Yet haunt my dreaming gaze!

I have good into my life by building health habits. I try to exercise and pray. In time I will get better at keeping myself happy.

I am opening myself up to joining a new 12 step meeting from the beginning. Plus the possibilities for the USFZs new bank acct and community partnerships feels exciting as well.

Recently I have brought joy into my life by trying to be more of a people person. I have made an attempt to be friendlier and make conversation with those whom I encounter throughout the day, usually at a 12-step meeting. I am also trying to pay more attention to what i put into my body food and chemical wise. I also read about history which brings me joy.

Good morning everyone + Happy Tuesday. O, the joy of living + experiencing the love of our Creator. O, the joy of the 12 promises of recovery. O, the joy that no matter what calamities may befall us, trusting in God’s love + power + knowing, “Don’t worry about a thing cause every little thing gonna be alright.” (Bob Marley) Blessings. BB

I put together jewelry and just figured out a way to use the same choker and exchange my favorite stones in its center-piece and still make it look elegant, simple and how it should be. That brings me joy.

Today, I have a virus. I find it hard to think of things for which I am grateful. And yet, the way I view this virus is very different from a while ago. Today I know that first and foremost I must take care of myself; I can call friends if I feel worse or need help; it is my intention to be available to other FIPs (Friends in Program). Today, I am slowed down, today I have time to rest and meditate; today is a gift just like every other day.
