Analysis: The Breath of Sanity

We often crash against our own human limitations. It Works: How and Why describes this painful dilemma. We fail to resolve life’s difficulties alone. Eventually, we seek a more promising place for help. This search leads us toward a Great Creator.

Restoring sanity requires a vital, quiet pause. How Al-Anon Works defines sanity as resisting our first impulse. We choose helpful actions instead of harmful ones. A grand shift allows the universe to unfurl its riches. Wellbriety teachings remind us that we must listen. “The Great Spirit is always with us” (White Bison, 2002, p. 31). We must release our false pride to hear this voice.

Viktor Frankl noted that our power lies in our response (Frankl, 1946). This space between impulse and action offers true freedom. We embrace our incompetence to keep an open mind. Fresh ideas then flow into the soul. Life becomes a spiritual solution rather than a problem.

For me praying to God is a direct response to Life’s challenges… when I’m 100% and doing my part he always has a solution for me… staying in the word provides wisdom and navigates me through the day!

When I relapsed this past November, I was so terrified to call my dad and ask for help, because he had been praising me for doing so well in sobriety. But I needed him to help me formulate a plan of how to get back on track, because I felt lost trying to do it myself. I had to get over the fear of what he might think, and remember that I am his daughter, and he loves me – and that was not the first time he had seen me relapse, get better, and bounce back into a healthier lifestyle.

I tried countless times to get clean. I went to meetings several times a day high hoping something at the meeting would magically get me sober. But it wasn’t until I asked for help and was willing to put my trust into treatment that I was actually able to get it right. Never going back, well, at least not today.

I get so much relief from asking for help. The biggest time is probably when I got sober. I went to treatment and asked for help because I couldn’t do it on my own. The help I got there and from my sponsor saved my life.

Spiritual solutions are how I get through the week. Just before I opened Zonr, I prayed the serenity prayer. After I complete the Zonr, I will go outside and journal, meditate and pray. It is these foundations that day by day are keeping me mentally and spiritually healthy.

Thank you for sharing recovery with me. Grateful.

I have my own personal relationship and understanding on who God is. My God is a combination of the God i was raised to know and my own concept of God… I have a modern God with his own sense of humor… my God talks to me plainly and simply….

I often utilize not taking that first of something that will lead to the next, and the next thing I’m not really wanting. Cravings are another battle I’m workin’ on, but at least if I don’t pick up that first one, I know I have so much control, and have not given into temptation by listening to wise words to lead me out of insanity.

I find that I am able to slow down, focus more and pay attention to what I am doing in the precise moment. For instance, now when I am driving in my car I find that I am able to concentrate on my driving and I practice paying attention by driving as attentive as I can.

Good morning everyone + Happy Wednesday. Thanx Korey for all your hard work in presenting our daily reflections. You are an inspiration to all. May God continue to bless you.

I am always in awe when I view a video on the cosmos. I was but a boy when man ventured into space + landed on the moon. Now, we have images of the ever growing universe. Where will we travel to in the future.

Join us in our walk in Sobriety + together we will travel the universe. Blessings. BB

Through spiritual practice and stopping drinking, I’ve started to see my life again being full of possibilities. I had started to see my life as “this is all there is or will be.” A world of possibility is how I viewed life when I was young before addictive behavior took over my life.
