“… understanding fear; that means, watch it, learn about it, come directly into contact with it. We are to learn about fear, not how to escape from it.”  – Jiddu Krishnamurti (1895 – 1986) Indian spiritual author on our fears

Analysis: Feeding the Hungry Soul

We often fight to control our inner flaws. This battle usually creates a wall of fear. It Works: How & Why offers a wiser solution. We should step aside and trust a Higher Power. Responsibility acts as the bridge to this healing. Our inner spirit begins to flourish when we stop hiding.

Fear can easily transform into a deep hatred. Sexual Anorexia describes how we starve our own needs. We reject nourishment to maintain a false sense of safety. This behavior leaves the soul hungry and tired. True accountability breaks this cycle of avoidance.

Jiddu Krishnamurti invites us to look directly at our terror. He argues that we must learn from fear rather than escape it (Krishnamurti, 1970). This direct contact brings a profound sense of clarity. Native teachings in The Red Road to Wellbriety echo this sentiment. “Healing is a journey to the center of our fear” (White Bison, 2002, p. 88). We find our true appetite for life in that center. This journey requires us to face our shadows with courage. Only then can we receive true nourishment for the soul.

Jiddu Krishnamurti (1895 – 1986), autor espiritual indio

One fear I currently have is that my truck will break down. I can’t afford to fix it yet and it’s making all kinds of sounds that are not good. Sigh.

Every morning as I rise, I ask for the courage to face my fears. I pray this to my higher power and I take action. With each action in my day, fears shrink and courage grows.

Thank you for sharing recovery with me. Grateful.

    Fear stands for two things
    F..K EVERYTHING AND RUN
    or FACE EVERYTHING AND RECOVER
I choose the latter… my faith in God displaces fear and is an antidote to anxiety

I don’t have fears or get much scared, but can get startled, and worry intensely that can be relatable to a degree. To handle my worry, and anxieties I meditate, and stay busy when need be. This prepares me to handle such job titles in law like a cop, investigator, or security guard that have been some goals in work for me. Things not going well can put some of us in a fear possibly or a lot of stress, and that’s when relaxation, and comfort are very key.

Currently, I face almost daily fears over my finances and more recently, genuine concern over the US Administrations willingness to consider sending citizens and noncitizens alike to out of country prisons without due process. Multiple aspects of both are out of my control. What I can control is my reaction to them and to ensure that the actions I can affect and in accomplished. It is a small relief in realizing that I have some control. When up against the angst over that which I cannot, the serenity prayer is what keeps me grounded.

Good morning everyone + welcome to a brand new day. Here is today’s thought. Welcome all who you meet. God may have out the impulse in someone who needs help to come to you. There is so much power + healing in this union. Make all who meet you feel that you really care. Blessings. BB

Becoming sober, fearing that I wouldn’t be able to do it, and suddenly feeling like the floor is shifting under my feet and that somehow I’m no longer in control. I feel powerless when I’m not feeling grounded. But I can only do the things that I know to be right, continue to work the program, don’t drink, and have faith that it will all work out. I’m also fearful that in working the program I will let other things in my life go that are important to me. These include eating right, exercise, and certain friendships that I really value.
